Panic attacks can pretty much happen to just about anyone, regardless of race, economic status, appearance, job, etc. Once panic attacks settles in, there's the uncontrollable feeling of extreme anxiety, worry, and fear, and sometimes there's not even clear reason for having a panic attack. There are many available panic attacks treatment but the best defense remains in how well a person can prevent it from happening in the first place or for the second and third time around. Here are some tips to combat panic attacks.

The first step of panic attacks treatment and prevention is to never self-medicate. Self-medication makes the person feel more in control when in reality, all it does is worsen the situation. Chances are the person will tend to heal him/her self by avoiding the situation and resorting to vices and bad habits.

The second step of panic attacks treatment is by paying attention to one's personal lifestyle. Most of the time, the way a person lives can be a clear indication if he/she is a candidate for suffering through panic attacks. It can be being overworked, not eating or sleeping enough, not having proper diet and exercise, etc. Pay attention to the way you live and perhaps such attacks can be prevented.

Step three in panic attacks treatment and prevention: don't panic during panic attacks. This may seem very absurd but it's important to at least try and calm yourself when panic attacks start to set in. Try to practice proper breathing exercise to prevent hyperventilation as these breathing exercises can greatly alleviate the severity of panic attacks.

Fourth step: don't deny its existence and occurrence. Most people are at first ashamed and embarrassed of what they're going through that they tend to just force themselves to ignore the reality. This could prove to be very detrimental because there's no way that a problem can be solved without first recognizing its existence and its reality. Recognize and accept panic attacks from the very beginning and immediately find various ways of panic attacks treatment.

Fifth step: never hesitate to ask for help. Panic attacks is a very complicated disorder because it doesn't have clear-cut boundaries and limitations as other disorders and illnesses have. Seek medical attention immediately to receive proper panic attacks treatment in order to be relieved of it as soon as possible.

Sixth step: go with those who truly understand. And in this case, there's no one who better understands what you're going through than the people who are also going through it. Finding company and comfort from those who are also suffering from panic attacks can help lessen the shame and increase your chances of getting help as soon as possible.

The most important thing in fighting panic attacks is to not close yourself to the world. There's no one that can help you other than the rest of the world. It's also important to listen-to your body, to other people, and to your environment.

Panic attacks treatment may vary from case to case, but the most important thing is the person must strive to conquer the disorder and to not allow him/her self to be eaten alive by it.
